The oldest suburb of Chennai is also the busiest town of the city! Tambaram is an epitome of persistent growth! It has transformed from a simple suburb to a sprawling mini-city in the last decade. Many of the IT professionals who want to stay away from the buzz of the OMR opt to invest in one of the many residential spots that dot around Tambaram.
We have a brief look at a few of those interesting localities below,
Medavakkam
Once, a land that was primarily used for agriculture, Medavakkam has grown into a buzzing town that is filled with small apartments. Bigger projects are slated to happen in the coming years. Connectivity might be an issue because of the narrow road leading to the locality from the Velacherry Main Road and the limited public transport facility but the ones with their own vehicles will not complain.
Madipakkam
Yet another smaller town that was once an under-developed suburb of the bigger suburb, Tambaram; Madipakkam has made a name for itself in the last half a decade. The ring road connecting it to Velacherry and St. Thomas Mount has made things easier for the residents. It is one of the localities to watch out for since it has easy access to both - the OMR as well as the other side of the city (Kathipara).
Alandur
A stone's throw away from the IT corridor, Alandur is for those, who have a restricted budget; one can discover homes as low as Rs 30 lakhs. Once a not so attractive locality, it is now one of the forerunners in Chennai real estate and is slated to grow more in the coming years. With the metro branch of Koyambedu having a major station in the locality, connectivity is not going to be an issue. The real issue that the inhabitants face is the water emergency. Even the nearby areas like Nanganallur and Adambakkam have the same issue but the metro water supply is sure to sort it out.
GST Road:
The Grand Southern Trunk Road or the NH 45 is one of the oldest highways that acted as the lifeline for Tambaram. Now the road is less of a highway but has rather become the Nile of the suburb with densely populated localities dotted around the road. Localities like Pallavaram and Chrompet came into existence because of the GST and continue to thrive. A good thing about opting for a property on the GST is that the railway line runs along the road and has stations at regular intervals and the airport is easily accessible too!
Camp Road:
Once just a junction that had a few shops, Camp Road has now become a landmark which needs no introduction. There are a number of small projects in and around Camp Road that makes the locality more residential than commercialized. But it is for the good since the junction itself has all the shops you need!
